Local football team makes Airdrie proud

Dear editor, I would like to recognize some very valiant young men in our community.
...
They are Airdrie's Northern Raiders midget football team, who recently finished their season by winning the Div. 2 final (see page 23)
They all showed up to play amidst a downpour and played so well that the opposing team was wondering who they were.
This is a team that struggled all season to find its groove and did so at just the right moment.
As a parent of one of these young men, I want to say thank you to all of them for playing so hard all season and congratulations on a well-deserved victory!
I would also like to thank the coaches, Stephen Kemp, John Scratch, Tyrell Rohl, Jack Braybrook, Rob Garvin, Grant Currie, Brent Legault, Tim Postma, trainer Bailey Currie and manager Jane Rohl who provided such unrelenting leadership and faith in their team.
With every sport, fundraising is a natural occurrence and the Northern Raiders would like to thank their sponsors who provided donations for the many different fundraising activities this season.
Thank you to all who donated and participated.
Laurie Ouellette, Northern Raiders' fundraiser coordinator
